A base blockchain that settles its own transactions (BTC, ETH, SOL).

A Layer-1 is a base-layer blockchain — it provides its own security and settles its own transactions. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche and Cardano are all L1s. The trade-off is throughput vs. decentralization vs. cost.
