Validator

A staking node that proposes and attests blocks on a proof-of-stake chain.

Definition

In depth

On a proof-of-stake chain, validators are the nodes that propose new blocks and attest to others — earning rewards for honest behavior and being slashed (penalized) for misbehavior. Running one usually requires a minimum stake (e.g. 32 ETH on Ethereum).
