Proof of Stake (PoS)

Consensus model where validators lock up tokens as collateral instead of burning energy.

Definition

In depth

In proof-of-stake, validators are chosen to propose blocks in proportion to the amount of native token they've staked. Misbehavior is punished by slashing the stake. PoS is far more energy-efficient than PoW and powers Ethereum, Solana, Cardano and most modern chains.
