Practical

Trading around closures

  • Weekend crypto volume is thin — the same order size moves price further.
  • Forex gaps between the Friday close and the Monday open can jump stop levels.
  • Spreads widen around holidays; a stop that is fine on Tuesday may be too tight on a half-day.
  • Reduce position size rather than widening stops when liquidity is poor.
FAQ

Market hours — frequently asked questions

No. Crypto trades 24 hours a day, every day of the year, including weekends and public holidays. Liquidity still varies — it is usually thinnest at weekends and during the gap between the US close and the Asian open, which can exaggerate price moves.
