A token designed to hold a stable value, usually 1:1 with a fiat currency.
Stablecoins are crypto tokens engineered to track the price of a reference asset — almost always the US dollar. They come in three flavors: fiat-backed (USDT, USDC), crypto-collateralized (DAI), and algorithmic. Stablecoins are the dominant settlement layer on most exchanges and DeFi protocols.
